CIVIL ENGINEERING AND BUILDINGS AND HOUSING PAVILION. / This pavilion covers an area of 12,000 sq. yards. It will be occupied / jointly by the Civil Engineering and Buildings and Housing groups. The / principal element of this complex is a structure built of reinforced / concrete, shaped to form a cantilevered arrow nearly 90 yds long and40 [sic.] yds / high at its highest point. This arrow rests on three “feet” which are / attached to a foundation consisting of a huge cube of concrete which, in / turn, rests on 28 stones of 100 tons and 87 stones of 60 tons anchored in / the ground. A triangular room surmounted by a cupola acts as a counterweight / to the arrow. A gigantic map of Belgium will be drawn below the arrow. It / will show the locations of the principal art works of the country. Suspended / from the arrow above the map will be a foot-bridge leading to a main exhibit / hall.
