The three pictures depict three / different operations. Occasionally the river goes on a rampage, its waters / churn into a muddy dark brown froth. Fields get flooded and crops destroyed / but the peasants are proverbially philosophical. They still go on singing / the praises of the river. They say, “The river gives and the river takes / away, and tomorrow there is hope again.”
