The foundations are held fast by heavy iron bearers, and the cement walls which are several meters thick are reinforced by iron. Only the / turrets are ourwardly[outwardly] visible; teir [their] armoured coupolas potrude [protrude]from the earth and their machine guns and cannon barrels are directed against the enemy through narrow loop hooes [holes] which can be closed. The ammunition is brought up by means of a lift out of the store, which is under-neath the fighting emplacement. The working rooms for the / men, the cantine, the recreation room with library and wire / less are one storey deeper. The command headquarters are in / the middle of the storey deeper. The command headquarters are in / the middle of the bunker, and remains in continuing communi-/cation with the neighbouring bunkers, and with regimental / headquarters by means of the telephone exchange, which is / next door to, it. In the deepest storey [story]are the dormitories, / lavatories, sick room and seperated from these the kitchen / and store rooms for victualling the occupants. The big bun / kers have their own power and lighting plants, and are thus / independent of what is going on outside. All rooms are con / tinually supllied [supplied] with fresh air by ventilation and gas / filters make it impossible for poison gases to penetrate / into these rooms. The seperate works have subterranean/ communications with one another, these communications being /supplied with electric vehicles running on rails.
