Captions: Verso: More of the people of Carinthia. A superstition in Carinthia says that if the ear was pierced and a golden ring worn, sickness would be evaded. This custom is of course dying out with modern times, but occasionally one of the elders of the town, like Max Stimniker (Austrian) 64 years old, can be seen walking through town sporting the ring that never comes off.
