Bean, lunar / module pilot for the Apollo 12 lunar landing mission, is pictured / at a lunar surface simulation area near Flagstaff, Ariz., in training / for the Apollo 12 mission. Here, he is carrying a geological tool / container and has a lunar surface camera strapped to his body. The / topography in the Flagstaff area was modified to resemble the Moon’s / surface for astronauts to train for lunar surface extravehicular / activity. Other members of the Apollo 12 crew are Charles Conrad / Jr. and Richard F.
